    Hi All
I'm thinking of buying a commercial jeep/van , I was looking at Hyundai Tucson commercial type but it seems to be heavy on juice, can you recommend anything similar, 2.0 litr max, not newer than 4-5 years. I'm not gone on the ford connect and the like.

Older Hyundai 4x4s are very heavy on juice, id recommend a Discovery or a Land Cruiser, they can be got for handyish money now and are great comm 4x4s

Depending on what model you get the Disco can be quite thirsty too.

My 2006 (Auto) runs 12.5-13L/100km for urban driving but is predictably much better on the open road getting 10-10.5, I did recently manage 9.6 on a run to Donegal at which I was quite impressed.

That said, it's a fine car.

There really isnt such a thing as a "proper" jeep that that isnt hard on juice.

2.0l max basically rules out most jeeps and also the main advantages of jeeps. towing limits, torque for 4x4 use etc.

If you are/were looking at considering the likes of a ford connect a jeep probably wont suit as it is going to be a compromise on most things. higher running and maintenence costs, less practical for loading and unloading.

You really need to decide on what you want the jeep/van for and and pick which is the right choice for you, Generally the duties of vands nd jeeps are not really interchangeable.

I suppose I would be transporting stuff no bigger than a washing machine. Towing single axle. Nothing heavy thats why I want less than 2.0 liter. But like a little comfort also. I think something likea vw golf van would be a bit small

A caddy would probably suit you, they are near identical to a golf inside and are comfortable with plenty of power depending on the model you go for

Plus the OP hasn't stated the need for 4 wheel drive, so I reckon it's overkill for them. you'll pay one way or the other. Cheap to run van means caddy or connect or similar, which you don't like the look of. Good looking commercial with a bit of space is a 4x4 with larger running costs. I run a cruiser, but because I need it to tow big loads.

Of course, i should have split that sentence, i wasn't comparing the Hyundai to the other 2, just saying that the Hyundai would be alot heavier on juice than you would think in my experience, the Disco and the LC are the best comm jeeps out there imo, good pulling power, plenty of space and comfort and they tend to hold their value better than any other.

They're not dreadful, though I'd be putting my money into a Santa Fe I reckon. No real horror stories with them, and they look smart enough too.

2.2 I believe - brother in law had a '06 and it was 2.2 diesel.
