Hi folks, does anyone know of sites/forums where I could get an approx value of a lens? it was originally very expensive but now showing obvious signs of use and as such a shop would probably not be interested. I have read the charter here so don't want to breach the guidelines so won't be specific about the actual lens in question. Would just like to know if there are "antique roadshow" style forums where an approx value could be obtained.

ebay completed listings. Check what they go for in good nick and revise downward as appropriate. What is the lens ? I assume if you're talking antique roadshow type things it's old ? Very very few old lenses are worth much of anything, but there are exceptions.

Thanks for that, it is not antique, I realised after posting that was an unfortunate reference, the lens is rare in that It is really only used in Ireland by pro sports photographers - a canon 400 2.8L ultrasonic. But for example the lens hood mount is broken and I have it permanently attached.

I assume it's the non-IS version, the oldest 400mm lens, so you might get €1.5-€2k for it, depending on the quality of the glass within.

Not an easy item to sell, due to lack of demand, because of it's cost and use. Great for sport or wildlife photography.

Thanks for that, much appreciated. You're indeed correct, non IS version. It was was that model and in mint condition I would probably be looking to exchange it for a small family car!
