    Hey,

Unless your getting a very good exercise/spinning bike get a turbo, the turbo is the best,on the cheap excrcise bikes the pedals are away out in front and nothing like a real bike, the good spinning/exercise bikes you can move the saddle forward And back and the same with the bars but your into big money, the tacx do good turbo's for €180-€240 or look on cycling adverts and you might find a good 2nd hand one,

    Zip,

Just to confuse matters, I have both and I much prefer the spinning bike.

But I spent a bit of money on a decent one - ex commercial gym equipment, so it weighs a ton and is fully adjustable. I like it better because you can get out of the saddle on it basically which I find I can't do on the turbo.

Fat bloke, sounds like you need a set of rollers, there handy to get out if the saddle on :-)

Any of the exercise bike you see for up to 4-500 you can't set them up to the same position as your road bike and that could cause you Probs with your back and leg pain, also you would use your mussels in a different way, this would be of no use to you,the other thing is noise from some exercise bike's is very loud if your in the house,

You're just too fat to get off the saddle. :D

had a tacx Sirius, now have Cyclops rollers. Rollers are far more enjoyable to ride and I have no problem doing intervals (not sprints). Never liked the unrealistic resistance of mag turbos, although fluid turbos are supposed to be better. Rollers literally feels like cycling outside. The downsides are that you always have to have concentration so if you're the kind of person who needs to watch tv, then they're maybe not the best choice

I would advise trying before you buy. Not everyone likes them, but certainly I'm a big fan, and a lot of the crap you read about them, in terms of being a warmup tool only, is just that, crap

I'm not an experienced cyclist really, but I also find rollers highly useful, not that hard to get the hang of. Took me about an hour to be comfortable enough on them.
