I have a 07 VW Golf and the silver paintwork has gone dull in patches. How do I go about restoring it to the gleaming finish.
    All advice welcome

Try a decent polish by hand first and see will it make any improvement

Yes vw paint is hard but a polish with a decent cut and some elbow grease will make a difference. Swirl marks can be in glossy paint too. Of course a DA will give a lot better finish but takes a lot of time. They are cheap enough to buy now. 165 for a starter kit from cleancar http://www.cleancar.ie/kestreldas-6starterskit.html
