Help! Have Oz Laptop - can't play Irish DVD

    Hi all,

I have an australian Toshiba laptop, with Windows 7, which I bought when in Australia.

Now living in Ireland and my daughter just bought a DVD with her Christmas money and it won't play on my computer, and it won't allow me to change the Region from 4 to 2.

What can I do? The laptop is less than 12 months old and I don't remember changing the region on it before, but it says no changes are left?

Thanks for any help. (Daughter is crying in the corner)

It may have been set when DVDs were inserted previously. Only option I can think of at the moment is to rip the DVD onto the laptop and watch it there - use something like DVD Decrypter - http://www.dvddecrypter.org.uk/ to rip the disc and then VLC player - http://www.videolan.org/index.html to watch it.

Go to my computer, and right click on the dvd drive - select properties. go to the hardware tab, and right click on the dvd drive again and select properties. There should be a tab there where you can change the dvd region to irerland. You can only change a limited number of times

Thanks for your replies. Lu Tze I cant change the region, I have no more changes available. I think I'll try the method henryporter suggested. If I do that can the DVD be watched on other pcs or dvd players. thx
