If you bought a samsung or LG tv that has wifi over the last couple of years theres extra equipment you can buy like a magic remote for the LG that will allow you to control the TV over wifi.

While some may be aware of it already, I found the iphone/android apps by complete accident that will do the same thing for free.

I was being told I needed the magic remote at 55euro to do the same thing the iphone app will do for free so hopefully will save someone the cash for that.

LG do the app for their TVs "LG TV remote", the samsung app is called myTifi. They need to be on the same wifi router. Once you crank them up theyll discover the tvs automatically and you then just pair them.

+Panasonic, just type your TV type into App Store and if there's a free app it will appear at the top of the search results

hmmm mine works OK. But as I mentioned I got it from the US app store a year if not two ago. And to update it I used to have to switch to my US id but I could have swore that I didn't for the last update which made me think it was available from Ireland now.

You just need to create and US(uk?) iTunes ID to get it which is easy enough. Plenty of pages on the net on how to do it.
