Golf Bag Setup

I'm interested to find out how people have their golf bag setup. I can never understand people that have a mish mash setup because if it was me, I'd spend more time looking for the right club then concentrating on the shot.

I have a titleist cart bag with the below setup (I'd be looking at it from the opposite side though)
    image-3_zpsff1680b3.jpg
I have my Driver and Hybrid in the two spaces at the top.
On the next row, I have my putter to the left, 54 degree, 60 degree, empty space
On the next row, I have my 7iron, 8iron, 9iron, PW
    On the bottom row, I have my 3iron, 4 iron, 5iron, 6iron

I've been messing around with the setup so not sure I'm happy with it. Anyone got a different way of setting up their clubs?

I've added a poll to see who has structure to their setup.

    Basically anywhere goes.

I might have some order at the 1st tee, but after that I waste minimal time organising clubs after I've hit my shot.

Just pick it up and go.

Structured setup for me. Nothing worse than searching through the bag looking for a club - or someone else doing it as i'm lining up a shot.

Same here. Before playing I always clean the clubs and set them up in the bag in a similar fashion to what you describe above. Wedges to 8 iron, 7 6 5 in the next. 4 and 3 then and driver / putter.

But once the first tee shot is hit...the club goes back in the back anywhere I can find. And the same for every other shot.

But yes, I do spend time trying to find irons then which is a bit annoying.

And I agree about how annoying it is when someone else is rooting in the bag as you are about to play. First resolution so...use a structure in the golf bag :-)

I can't understand people not structuring their bag. I don't have to look for a club when taking one out and I dont have to look for a spot to put it back into - I know where they all go. And I don't end up with half my set in one compartment and have a struggle to take out just one club.

Putter and wedges at the front and then the longer the club the farther back it is. Think it makes sense because with the bag at a slant the longer shafted clubs would cover the wedges making them harder to find.

There are enough variables to worry about when taking a shot, looking for a club shouldn't be one of them.

Structured for me at the start of a round. This can change then depending on how the round goes. Good round = clubs are kept in a structured set up,snack every 4-5 holes and sip away at water as needed.Everything seems nice and relaxed and swinging the club feels so easy and balanced. Bad Round - clubs are squeezed in anywhere they will fit, don't bother with the food and water. 3 clubs could end up in one slot which causes a lot of frustration later on in the round. These days usually include one instance of the bag falling over and wedging those already tight clubs even tighter :) I feel another new years resolution in the making!

This thread brought a smile to my face as until yesterday when I got my new set of clubs . I bought a very good second hand set with everything from driver to putter .

Yesterday and today every club was placed back in its right place but not before a good clean and head covers put back on , and I intend to continue doing so BUT before yesterday my old starter said were just thrown in the bag and head covers were put back on after the round .

Hopefully this looks okay - but essentially this is my setup :)

I have 7 slots on the bag in a 3 layer shape. I basically throw any wood or driver in top layer, 3 iron to 9 iron in middle layer, and wedges and putter in bottom layer. Don't care if they are left or right as long as they're on the right layer :D

Have a caddy rack, great for forged irons

dont think they are made any more
quite a few people wonder where they could get one when they see it

    Woods above - putter below

    Six spaces.
Top left ... Driver, 3 wood
    Top right ... 17 and 24 rescue
    Mid left ... 5&6 irons
    Mid right ... 7,8 & 9 irons
Bottom left ... PW & GW
    Bottom right ... 56 & 60 wedges
Putter tends to be put in with driver when on the trolley so it's the uppermost club and easiest to get at.

Surprised more people don't have a bag with a putter-well. Its the only club you use on every hole and its dead handy having it easily accessible at the front of the bag....

Is that the clips that hold the putter outside the bag, i've seen those lately and it would be great except for when it rains.

I always have my longer clubs near the top and shorter at the bottom. My putter sits on the high left so I can get at it easy.
