Washing machine water supply

Hi all! Was in the process of draining our washing machine, and when i went to turn the knob on the cold water supply at the wall, it broke off. Now im not sure if the water supply is on or off. I tried to screw the pipe off slightly, and the water was spraying out, but don't know if it is the excess water in the pipe. I…

Hi all!

Looking at your picture of the valve it appears to be still open.
If you have a pliers, catch a hold of the flat sides of the spindle in the centre of the valve and turn it a quarter turn until the flat side of the spindle is this way (|) to the pipe being this way (===)
