    Hi All,
Is there a ForEx in Koh Samui Airport or an ATM? Heading over with Euro, but want to have a handful of Thai Bhat so we can pay for transport.

    Thanks

There is definitely an ATM there anyway, the airport is one of the more surreal airports I have been to and there is no real terminal as such just a few thai style timber buildings. very calm and relaxed airport and sort of thing like you'd see in one of those tropical island movies.

Presumably you are connecting through Bangkok?, you can change currencies there or even do it in Ireland or one of the middle east airports if you are flying via the Middle East. Ko Samui is a nice enough spot although has been spoiled a little by mass tourism and if you are expecting something like "the Beach" movie you'll be disappointed as there are so many tourists there.

Also Taxis in Samui are far more expensive than Bangkok (as is everything else) so make sure to change enough and the best way to get around is to hop on a Songtheaek (song-choo) which drives around certain routes for a fixed price, Lamai to Chaweng oneway was 100thb in 2011 (€2.60). You can either take a taxi from the airport or hopon a songthaewk and the driver will start dropping off his passengers at their hotels.

Thanks for that. I'm going via Kuala Lumpar so I'll try change currencies there! I've rented a private villa so at least I'll have my own pool to relax in!

Yeah you'll get Thai Baht in KL no probs. I was there last March and it is a nice airport, less chaotic and more organised than Bangkok Airport.
