Is it bad form not to go to a family party for New Years?

Hey. Sorry in advance about the very minor personal issue...

My brothers girlfriends parents are organising a party that my family are all going to tomorrow. When I say party, its a few drinks on NY Eve. Would it be bad form not to go to the party? I mean there are alot of other parties I rather be at on new years, and its a 50 mile drive there and back, and Im also not that happy with the idea of spending the night on an airbed or couch or whatever. Also, I'm back to work on the 2nd, that will take a day or two to get ready for.

But I dont want to be the pariah of my family (and her family)

    Thanks for any opinions

No it's not bad form not to go. They're not close family to you, they're your brother's girlfriend's family.

Your brothers girlfriends family? No... I don't think it's bad form. Just tell them you already made plans. I don't see why they'd really care if you go or not... no offence ;)
