I'm sure you've all seen that ESB ad back on the telly where a train leaves Alan Hughes at a station in the middle of nowhere. Anyone know what station that is and is it still open today?

    This too shall pass.

Can anybody work out where the bridge scene at 0:39 is ???
I think that's Rathdrum again, taken at the north end of the village by the bridge, pity about the Celtic Tiger eyesore there nowadays!

Indeed you are correct, with the detached house with the distinctive square pointed roof being the proof.

Is it just me or did they edit in a more modern looking cooker to the new ad?

No, that's the same cooker as the original.

The real question is why, when the ad was originally made, was a state monopoly that had no competitors and was providing a service vital to modern lives advertising at all ...

A few appliances that would have been on sale in their shops nationwide feature in the ad. One of the handy things about purchasing an item from the ESB was, you could stick it on your bill.

There is something different in the ad, dont have it to hand at moment, is it the immersion in the old one? Great iconic ad.
