    Hello,

Can anyone tell me if someone was to drop out now in the second year of their course having received the first installment of their grant, would they owe any money back to the county council?

    Thanks

I don't think you would. You couldn't claim any of the further installments, of course, and it would affect your chances of getting a grant for other courses in the future, I'm sure.

I'd give the education officer/president of the SU an email just to make sure.

I recently deferred (as a 4th year) and I haven't had to repay the part of the grant that I had already received. It'll just affect my grant next time I apply

As far as I am aware if you voluntarily drop out, you wont be eligible for a student grant again.

Only for the years you have already done i.e. If you drop out in 2nd year you cannot get a grant for 1st and 2nd if you start another course but can for 3rd and 4th year
