My advice would be to start with finding a good installer with a understanding of heating controls, this will have a bigger impact on the longevity and cost effectiveness of a new boiler rather than the price you pay for a boiler.

If it were me i would fit a filter like a magnaclean to protect my boiler, i would want my heating system to be flushed properly before a new boiler is fitted, i would want heating and hot water controls that give me easy controllability with optimum efficiency, I would want at least a 5 year warranty with good service back up.

I would be happy to have Viessmann and Worcester Bosch in my house, but most modern boilers will work well on a clean and protected heating system.

Go to the Rgii website in there you will find a section find an installer you can search by county.Pick 2 or 3 from list call them around to give a price on job

Local suppliers have a good idea of which installers do good work, manufactures themselves tend to have a list of approved installers(once you've decided on the boiler), you may ask your friends or fellow boardies of any installers that have done good work, you could PM JohnnieK who is near you and is a decent installer.

There are a lot of good installers and some not so good, being RGI is not a indication of the quality of work unfortunately, so it is worth the effort in finding a good one.
