Mercedes-Benz C220 CDI

Hi all, A mate of mine has a 1998 C220 CDI and has been parked up for quiet sometime.

He tried to get into today with the remote and had no luck so we are assuming the battery in the car is stone dead (crap battery, hardly ever took charge) and wont open the boot or the locks. The actual key itself never opened the boot as long as he had it.

Then went to open the drivers door then with the actual key and for some reason wont raise the lock.

Now he has a donor C-Class so breaking the window to get into the car and replacing it wont be an issue.

My question is how can we get into the boot to change the battery?

Or is there a way to hook up jump leads under the bonnet like in a BMW?

Thanks in advance for any replies :)

Hi there is on the right hand side under the bonnet as your standing looking under the bonnet there are 3 power wires with a plastic clip over them. Now these are not for jump starting but if you put the leads onto that point for a min you will get enough power to pop the boot and the central locking. If ya need any other advise jus ask

    Thanks for the reply!

I suppose he has no alternative to breaking the window?

Ive never seen a C220 so problematic when it comes to electronics than this one :p

Normally they don't give any electronics trouble apart from the multiparty realy under the bonnet that does the wipers and a hole host of others. Well if you have no way of breaking into the car that's all ya can do I'm afraid.

Well being honest it wasn't very well looked after either.

How will i know which of the 3 wires is the one to connect up to?

Right so, we will give that a go in the morning and hopefully report back with good news!

    Thanks again!

The 3,wires are all positive and there a small enough connection il be more then likely holding the positive lead onto it and clip the neg to the engine block. Then get a second person to pop the boot and that.
