When does the trialling season start?

Fare play to Skronedale Romulus. Savage dog. Seen him at last years champs and he stood out by a mile only to be put out by a retrieving mistake. (He picked the wrong bird)

shrondale was 2nd 3rd 4th the last 3 years as far as im aware ,and it was trumpet taker ash with lorenzo ya. he has done it all with that dog ,won 3 back to backs which made him the champion, acumalated enough points and now has won the championship , he is a true champion in my eyes. there was only 7 dogs afer first day which will tell u the quality of what we have.think there is favouritism within the labs in that some judges favour there own bred dogs.i have definetly seen this in a few trials .this goes on within the german pointer trials too

Least by going to them you can make up your own mind about decent lines Charlie & buy/ breed from. Of course the judges want their own lines doing well as theres financial gain in there. Judges should be completely independent but sure every body knows everybody in this game & alliances are not uncommon. Very hard for the honest lads to break through

well i suppose the country is so small and when u hear a dog winning a trial and there might be only 10 dogs as opposed to england where there could be 3 times that

That a very funny statement to make Charlie considering the winner of the championship , Lorenzo only trains with two lads neither of which where judging and bread the dog him self , so where the alliance , and Alan roundtree has nothing to do with Southern Ireland trailing only the championships so no favoritetism there .

look trigger every thread u comment on u love conflict i didnt say anything about lorenzo did u not read the previous post i made "he has done it all with that dog ,won 3 back to backs which made him the champion, acumalated enough points and now has won the championship , he is a true champion in my eyes." now im not getting into a chat with u about it

i have seen this happen with other dogs and dont try and convince me different

Hold on I thought the whole point of these forums is to voice ur own opinion ! You voiced yours above by saying u think that favouritism is had ( while putting it in the same post as praising Lorenzo ) .

I voiced mine by saying that these men have very little to do with other trailing men.

So where the problem Charlie . I have full intention of standing up for retriver trailing , when a comment is made like that with out facts !

You thinking of getting in on the trailing lad, it is very clicky on the spaniel side of things, lads from the club are on the Irish team and they will even tell you its very hard just to even get your dog a run out ,in both cocker and springer trails your face really has to fit.The time it takes to get a dog to that standard is huge, the 2 lads from the club both took early retirement from their jobs so they have the time to go the length and breath of the country for trails and can spend hrs training the dogs. They also have access to rabbit pens which is vital. It is very hard on the pocket but fair play if you go for it.

hey lad i was running and training a young cocker that was coming on well but started giving tongue so had to go . ive postponed the idea at the min due to trying to build a team of rough shooting dogs but when the time comes ill run a dog (springer)in a few tests with the aim of seeing can i get him to trial. but i know what your on about. i saw at a puppy test once where two lads were laughed at by the lads that would have open stake dogs and were running pups and i thought how bad for the sport. hence why these experienced handlers dogs always keep popping up on the results page . saw another time where two dogs were being ran side by side with two juges walking behind and both were watching the one dog ,the "top dog", mick walsh.!

I Know lorenzo hynes and well charlie 10 is miss judging his comments did I mention I know lorenzo hynes very well better than anyone else and he is a fair man if you haven't noticed the judges would have loved for lorenzo not to win but he did face it he won 5 trophies and a silver plater with the best dog in ireland Blaze or better known trumpettaker ash (THE BEST DOG IN IRELAND )COME ON LORENZO HYNES AND BLAZE

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,097 ✭✭✭charlie10

did i once say anything bad about lorenzo or blaze and what ur saying about the judges not wanting certain people to win is exactly what im saying

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2 gundogs112

Yes but I'm making it clear that lorenzo won fairly

ya fair enough and i have spoken to lorenzo few times and he is a character and i was delighted to hear a true champ won it and not someone with the lines of a judge.thats what i was saying

Name one person that won the championship that didn't deserve it . How many of these have you been at .

I didn want to say much before but I know Lorenzo about 5 years now , and no one would have like him to win in the championship and def not Alan roundtree but they were placed 1st and second !
So there was no favoritetism !

I've been to the last 5 championships as a marker for the two day and Antony Reilly dog was flawless last year and willie Higgins dog won back to back championship for a reason his dog was awsome .

said nothing about who deserved or didnt deserve championship only bringing up the fact that there is corrupness in the trialing scene is that ok trigger

What was the ground like for the championship ? Was there a plentiful supply of game for all the dogs ?
