Anybody having issues with the RTE player. Mine just seems to spend it's life buffering now. This has only happened in the last week. Nothing can be seen on it at all.

If I try the TV3 player or C4 player, they all work perfectly.

It's not just my LT, other LT's in the house have the same issue with the RTE Player.

Question is, does anybody know anything about it or how to fix it even?

    Many thanks
    LB6

Is this a case of 'ah shur it's Christmas' at RTE? It seems there's little or no monitoring of their output...

Lately mine has worked in Internet Explorer but have the same problem as you in Firefox! Its because I need an update of some sort...possibly adobe.... strange that it doesnt affect the channel4 player though (for me ).

So maybe try it in another web browser if you have one, or otherwise see if theres an adobe player update you can get!

Thank you OYE's I'll just have a look now and see how that goes

    BTW -Happy New Year

    Edit:
Yer a genius. It works perfectly on IE. :-D

    Edit 2:

Updated the Adobe Flash too :) Now it works perfectly on the Firefox again - well the live gathering works - old programmes don't :(

I'm having no problems and I use Firefox.

I'm having trouble on Chrome and Firefox - ad-blockers installed in both.

Tried on IE (no ad-blocker installed) and it worked fine.

If they're enforcing ads to be shown, they really should say so when no content loads like other services do.

Aah, that could be why I have no bother, don't have an ad-blocker installed.

not exactly the same problem as OP, but didn't want to start an unnecessary new thread....

I'm temporarily without a telly, and am watching what I can on RTE player live - primarily the news and a few other bits and pieces.

Every time I watch there's "interference" on the stream - hard to describe but a loud "click" and the picture flickers once.

Anyone else experience this, and know if it's my broadband or the RTE site that's at fault? It's really annoying! Hopefully I'll be back to TV soon, but in the meantime I'm restricted to RTE on the laptop... this is like Chinese torture waiting for the next click.....

I've been having problems with the rte player also. I've stopping adblock running on the rte website and it's back running.

However I've noticed they now run a 30 second advert before the news for example, jesus I hate RTE

Absolutely! Time was when t'internet was how you avoided the ads - but no more it would seem.

But my problem is during the actual programme - it's like interference, or someone clicking on their computer next door and it's registering on mine here (that's the only possible explanation I can come up with!) - up to 10ish times per minute - it'd drive you mad!

sounds terrible. I haven't had any interference once the programme starts, despite the odd/rare pause but that could also be my poor Belkin wireless dongle!

It makes it almost unwatchable

Back to the books until my TV is returned, methinks.

Its pretty much crap. Sometimes it just plays the adds then just buffers or if you do manage to get it working, and then there is a add break half way through the program, when the program starts back up its does be out of sync.
I wish RTE would pull down the rte player as it seems like licence payers are getting something for there money but in reality its a waste of time having that player online.

I've noticed today that Sky News are now the same, none of their videos play with ABP enabled.

In the past week RTE Player has just stopped working for me. Everything looks OK until I press play (or rt click & select play) then the little screen goes blank. Channel on demand is working fine. Anyone know what I can do to fix RTE?

As someone else mentioned - try turning off your adblock if enabled. Also try using a different browser to see if it makes a difference.
