Canon EOS 40D soft focus issues

    Evening all,

I have a pair of Canon EOS 40D cameras that are producing soft images. I did some auto focus vs manual focus tests and I can get sharper images using the Live View screen and manual focus. I've spent the afternoon searching the Web looking for ways to microadjust myself the 40D and it just ain't happening.

So, can anyone recommend a course of action I should take to get this issue sorted? New camera's are not really an option, the more money I spend on camera gear the less money I have for photo opportunities (Catch 22 I guess).

Are there any tricks I can use or am I just better off having the bodies, and possibly also the lenses, calibrated?

If calibration is my only option is there anyone in Ireland I can go to? I have read mixed reviews about Image Supply Systems and don't want to wait weeks to get my camera back.

I have used Colchester Cameras in the UK before with no problems, apart from the expense of using couriers getting my gear safely to them.

    Thanks in advance,

    Frank.

40d doesn't have micro adjustment feature.
    What lens do you have?

I know the 40D doesn't have the microadjustment feature, but there are hacked / modified firmware versions doing the rounds and I had hoped that they would include the feature but alas they don't.

I found a crowd in the USA selling calibration software for about $500 so that's not an option either:

I just sent you a PM with my lens details.

    Regards,

    Frank.
