They have the sale on now! Will proably be more in Feb etc if you don't book now.

Just checked. The current "sale" doesn't cover the summer months. Have to wait a few more weeks at least.

Would say sale for europe coming up soon as flights i have been watching for next summer have shot up 15% this last 2 days so prob a sale coming up:rolleyes:

You are probaly correct but if you say the route I can tell you if its for a sale coming up or just high bookings.

I book Cork to alicante every year for the last 5, the prices have only been going one way that whole time.

Before i could get flights including bags for < €280 return. The last 2 years its been at or over the €400 mark and that would be checking them regularily and buying at the best price.

Cork-Alicante had a schedule change last week. Operational days changed and when that happens the prices will be high when its changed in the system. There will be a summer sale once the current ends but some routes will always stay high and the lower frequency per week the higher and higher the price will get.

Once Ryanair put Cork-Alicante on sale EI will drop.

Its messed up but the ryanair flights are often dearer than the aerlingus flights on that route !!! i have priced every year since they began competing and it must be a serious moneymaker for ryanair cause its never cheap.

Thats repeated on a lot of EI/FR routes and FR claim to be a loco!!

any ideas on dublin -- izmir.... flights are always so expensive :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,381 ✭✭✭nbar12

I just went onto their site there and you would think they would automatically have the departure country set at Ireland and not the USA

Depends on when you go - we are going for 3 weeks in April and it was €155 per person (with a hold bag). I know that July/August tend to be quite expensive, and the only way to get a bargain is to book really early when they have a sale or book last minute, but depending on the weeks you want, this might be a risky strategy.

Before Christmas, 2 weeks in June (middle 2) were €190 per person with a hold bag. They are still reasonable enough now, at €280 per person (without a bag).

I have never seen July/August for less than €300 pp since they started the route, with the exception of very last minute seats, although others might have a better experience. If you want cheap on that route, go April-May and sometimes early June, or Sept/Oct. We went last Oct for 10 days for €120 per person.

I find that if you go can go on the Tuesday flights, or sometimes go for 10 days rather than 7 or 16 rather than 14 this increases the chances of getting a good deal on price.

This is just one of a few things I dislike about their website.

This is just one of a few things I dislike about their website.

The departure location is based on your IP address and I'm guessing you may be accessing the site from your work network which routes out to the internet from the states?

We have the same here as the aerlingus.ie site automatically comes up as me being in the UK for the same reason.

The current sales is ending on Monday so either Tuesday or Saturday next week should have the main summer sale.

BTW the seat map dosn't show anything about loads, that just shows the number of passengers who booked the Plue fare or payed to select seats seperatly.

Your right prices have being creeping up over the last few weeks so the sale is on the way.

    or get dearer ,

i think there main reason is that there is only one airport that they can fly into now as the other airport is closed and there rubbing it in with price....

Dublin- Izmir return is averaging €250 per person for 2 weeks in june - dates are any combination first three weeks of june. Some as low as €230 others €247. So depending on dates, you could get return with a bag for around €250-270 (we usually share a bag going over and then bring two bags coming back for all the shopping! lol)

With respect if you booking to travel in the next few weeks then you will pay a lot more, you should at leat book 8-12 weeks in advanse.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 167 ✭✭GenuineFan

The flights are still very expensive. They put up the prices in the past two weeks and now they have 20% off. Ryanair will work out cheaper but unfortunately don't go from Shannon to Faro.

This is the dearest they have ever been ,i have booked these flights for years,

i booked the same time last year as i said already its - an airport issue from what i can see,

and another thing i have booked ages in advance only to find out about a two weeks before the flight they were cheaper , so don't preach to me about booking in advance , With Respect,
