Got it for my 11 year old for xmas, won't play certain games like Angry Birds Star Wars or Temple Run. Low internal space which fills up quick even with the SD card. Ok for the price.

Sony Experia Tipo (which is slightly more expensive at e80, unlocked! at carphone warehouse) is a way better handset, has a gpu accelerator so can play games, also has scratch proof screen (kids)
    See comparison

This is the higher spec version for £100, I think it can be unlocked cheap: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Vodafone-Huawei-Ascend-Smartphone-Silver/dp/B0089C9H4G/

The spec in this comparison is not the same phone sold by Tesco. It only has about 50meg available space and is on Android 2.3.6
Its not what i was led to believe when they showed me the specs. Should I bring it back?

it's e149 in CPW, not a bad phone at all, yet my 3 years old htc desire still beats it

just spotted that Tesco's link is for Y201 where my is for Y201 pro, maybe that's the case. if the tesco one is lower spec that the one I've linked to then it's definitely not worth it. I'd try to give it back if I were you, don't know if they would accept a return

I bought it on Meteor, but it works with both O2 and 48months (and of course with Meteor) - they told me it *might not* work with Three/Voda

Huawei G330 is €149 on meteor and emobile

Advantage over the G300 is dual core and front facing camera. Battery life might be a weak point though. Not sure how easy it would be to unlock

Yeah that's a really really good phone. The facial recognition screen lock is great and works very well.
Battery life is more than good enough too.
Amazed that this phone wasn't flagged as a Bargain

Tesco are not obliged to take it back as it has been used. But you could try.......

Does it look the same as the picture in the comparison? Or does it look like the y200?

I can't find evidence of the non pro version of this phone anywhere. Maybe they've mislabeled it, which would give you grounds for returning it.

I did a bit research on these handsets before picking up a present for Christmas. Tesco have the Y201 - this is the same spec as the Y200 that Three currently sell @ €79. The main difference is the design of the handset.

The Y201 Pro version has not been released in Ireland yet.

I finally went with the G330 on Meteor as there was noting like it available for the same price versus specification

I wouldn't say it beats it exactly, the 300 has a newer cpu, larger screen and ICS...I'd take the 300 over the desire.

The 330 is amazing value at the same price. Dual core, and a better gpu than the 300.

This phone has the same spec as the Ascend Y200 sold by Three.

There's also 2 different colours of the Ascend Y201, black and white. The white version is exclusive to Tesco Mobile UK and Ireland:
