Trying to figure out the best way to get from Lucan Spa Hotel (don't mind walking down to Lucan village centre either) to Dunboyne at about 10:30pm on a week night. This is about a 15 minute drive, but I can't figure out how to do it efficiently by public transport?

There appears to be no good way. Second-last route 239 bus leaves Lucan Village at about 10:50 pm, and it takes too long to meet the last route 270, which departs Blanchardstown Centre at 11:15 pm. Last train stopping at Clonsilla Station (serving Dunboyne railway station) leaves at 9:42 pm, and you'd have to get the route 239 bus in Lucan Village departing around 8:50 pm to meet that (and one heck of a long wait at the station).

Maybe an option would be to catch the 23.10 train from leixlip louisa bridge to either navan road parkway or ashtown. That should get you there at around 23 35 giving you time to get to the bus stop and catch the last 70 to dunboyne.

For future reference, in the new timetable being introduced next month, all outbound and inbound maynooth trains from clonsilla will connect to dunboyne trains. What this means is the 23.10 you catch to dunboyne or the 239 you catch to Clonsilla station there will be a train from clonsilla to dunboyne at around 23.40.

It is awfully tight - bus to Leixlip, train to Navan Road Parkway, bus to Dunboyne.

Leave a little earlier and you might catch the 239.

True but so is the 239 option. If they catch the 239 the only option is the 270 @ 23.15 which is going to be very tight.

Come to think of it your best option is probably 66/67 to city then 70 out for the moment.

Once the new train timetable begins next year your options increase.
