You can delete the apn or add a fake one, this will stop them until they figure out what's wrong. You won't be able to stop them tethering from their friends phones or using wifi. It's not really possible to stop them if they want to get to the internet on a smartphone.
Maybe ban them from having a password on their phone and befriend them on Facebook so you can stalk them. If it was me no Facebook until they finish secondary school.

Bit harsh but facebook after junior cert is fine. There riding in secondary school allready and drinking and are wathcing porn constantly, its the truth.

There is an app available called Famigo Sandbox that you can use on there smartphone

But in all honesty, educating them about the internet is the best way to go.

They can get a prepay broadband stick for 20 euro and use the internet with that for cheap.

They can a android phone for 20 quid and use a new sim card to use the internet

They can get a cheap tablet for 50 quid and use the internet on that with a sim card.

Trying to block them from the internet is never going to work. Education on it is the best policy

Also at home a thing that can record there key strokes so you will get their username and passwords for websites on your home computer or laptop is honestly the best thing to do! You can then personally login to there facebook and see what sites they are accessing! You will have all there user names and passwords!

Thank you for your replies. I didn't explain properly in my OP... I don't want to keep son away from the internet, just to stop it on his mobile. He got the phone Thurs and in 24 hours had used 30 euro credit on Google - he hadn't realised the cost involved!!

Any more advise would be welcome.

    Happy new year!

If they can't control their data, get the operator to turn data off so they'll only be able to use WiFi for internet access.
