Does anyone here use them for their guitar amps and what would they recommend?

The THD hotplates seem to be the most popular attenuators available. Some purists claim that they alter the tone.
I haven't used one myself, so I can't really confirm. Plenty of vids on youtube to judge by.

I have a Weber 50w Mini mass always on thrown in the back of my amp
I can have the amp cooking a really low volumes
Never had a problem with it & a good bit cheaper than the THD's,
    I cant compare them though

    @Wild turkey,
Did you buy the Weber unit directly from their website or from a local supplier?

They seem to be more reasonably priced than others such as the THD Hotplate or the Dr Z airbrake.

I picked it up on adverts about 4 years ago
It's well priced & does what its meant to do with no coloration

Thanks. I saw the Micro Mass advertised for $85 + shipping on the Weber website, so I'll see how much shipping will cost. Taxes will probably be another 25% on top of this.

I use a Weber Mini Mass as an essential part of my kit. It allows me to crank the amp but lower the volume slightly. Also, it kinda compresses the sound a little.

Beware though, if you're looking for this to tame a monster amp for bedroom playing then think again. Sure it brings the volume down somewhat but its still loud. Bring it down too much the with attenuator and your tone and sound will go to crap.

Anyway, I love the tone it helps me produce.

It's for a Marshall Class 5, so just need some attenuation when using at home to keep the wife from complaining :)

    I Used it on a Blackstar ht1 & ht5, 5w Epi valve junior, 2w Vox lil nightrain & 6 w Wem clubman
Just turned it down to 1/3 & stuck it in the back & forgot about it
Works great at breakup point with a ts /od in front of the amp
Really gets the vol & tone controls going

It should go great with the Class 5
