I use the Moon x300 set, cost e119 in Wiggle for front and rear (shield) I have owned some motor bikes with worse lights.

I use the Electron Terra 2 evo, my commute is about 7km lit and 7km of unlit country roads, find it excellent so far. :)

I also use the Moon set. Excellent lights and if I was spending the money, I would consider these.

Second option in line would be a Lezyne front light and the Moon Shield as the rear one.

I have the Lezyne Super Drive to the front and a Lezyne Micro Drive to the rear, got both for 120 inc postage. Very good lights, rear in particular has fantastic range both visually and in battery terms.

You should look at smudge batteries (google it) great lights for little money or trouties lights. I have a Liberator 3, savage light, Only ever use it on low. I use an exposure flare for the back with some fob lights attached to the helmet, plus i have an exposure joystick on the lid. My trip to work is 14 miles with 12 miles on unlit twisty roads. Cars give me a wide berth when passing and dip their headlights fairly quick as well.

Smudge batteries is mtbbatteries.have one for mtb super light not sure it would suit a commutter. I guess troutie is outside price range?

Just point it down a little. It would be hard to get a better light for the money.Don't what the run times are on the battery but it looks a very neat light.

Great one! However, the bracket for the rear Lezyne limits the way you can fix the unit into your bike. The Moon Shield has a clip and the rubber strip as well, so you can either mount in onto your seat post or clip into a bag or your rear pocket.

Pablo Id been looking at this light too. Very impressive output. How do you find the recharging ? The 8 hour charge and not being able to have spare batteries put me off. One other user commented that it gets hot due to 600 lumens and not having an aluminium body.
I went for the Hope Vision 1 LED Front Light 2013 and I think the Cateye would have been better but in general Im happy with the Hope Vision. (A few cycling mates recommended the Hope Vision too as a great long lasting light which is good when you are paying 100€).

Yea it takes about 6 hours to charge, if you let it go fully down. I commute about an hour (sometimes 1h1/2) and stick it onto the pc in work to charge so its handy that way for me. There is probably some better lights out there at that price but I chose it because its compact and I can swap it onto other bikes easily and I can remove it easily in the bike shed in work(where lights have gone missing) I ride about 45 minutes on pitch black rodes on and find it brilliant but warning light comes on at about 55 minutes which is grand . I also have an AA operated Smart Lunar flashing front strobe as back up with spare batteries with me just in case. Cant say I noticed it getting hot but will keep an eye on that.

Looking for a good set of lights for winter commuting on country roads @ night -

    Aout to buy this:
    http://www.evanscycles.com/products/cateye/el530-ld1100-light-set-ec007963

Should I be looking at anything else???
Initally my udget was 120quid - should i be raising that budget some more?

i have the very same cateye tail light in two of my bikes, can't recommend it highly enough,
it has more than 180 degrees of visibility - can be easily noticed from both sides and back

as for front light i ditched cateye years ago, not enough light for the money you paying, even cheap magicshine outperforms cateye in your link by a mile
