Anyone having issues with the RTÉ Radio streams? Getting a Network Timeout on RTÉ Radio 1 and RTÉ 2FM .. RTÉ Radio 1 Extra, RTÉ Lyric FM and RTÉ Choice are OK. Non RTÉ stations are fine, using an OXX Digital Vantage Internet Radio.

Yes - it's a nightmare at the moment. There was another thread about 6 months ago where this happened and some guy from rte came on and explained it. I will try to dig it out.

Might drop RTÉ a mail and see what's going on there.

Emailed RTE but nothing back, the RTE streams all worked fine for a few days after my last Boards message but the last few days they have gone to pot all together getting 'Network Timeout' on all of them. @donalh087 are you having similar problems? Anyone got an idea what is being changed?

2FM seemed fine this evening (the 96k MP3). Don't know about the others though.

Maybe whoever is responsible for such things was off for Christmas and is only back!

This is driving me nuts, when I get up in the morning I constantly get Network timeout when trying to get RTE Radio 1, can get other stations such as BBC Radio no problem. Last night I left it connected to RTE Radio 1 and still up and running this morning. At 9am I turned off the radio and turned it back on again and straight away got Network timeout on RTE Radio 1. I emailed RTE but no reply from them. 9:42 still getting Network timeout, RTE 2FM working fine but wait back to RTE 1 and now it is working.

NurseBridie I've had exactly the same experience for weeks now, emailed RTÉ also and it's like a black hole in there nothing back. If someone from RTÉ is on Boards.ie can they look into this. I'll email again later and reply back if I get any reply. Don't know what the root cause of this is but suspect it may be a capacity issue into their streaming infrastructure which is hitting it's streaming limit @ peak times like 7 - 9:30 mornings.

Just to add my voice of 'me too'. Thankfully I bought the Internet radio so I didn't have to listen to RTE but there are things I like to pick up (weather forecast, Michael Corcoran etc). RTE have been acting up since Christmas. It is unbelievable for a national broadcaster.

Wrote to Noel Curran Director General of RTE last night and included hearus@rte.ie and radioplayer@rte.ie whom I had written to previously and got no reply. Got this email back a few moments ago from RTE Radio Operations.

    Hello,

Thank you for getting in touch with us. We are aware of these on-going issues and our technology department is examining the causes and potential solutions. As soon as I have heard from them that these issues have been solved, we will let you know.

I will pass on the details you have provided as I am sure it could be helpful in trouble-shooting the problems.

    Best regards,
    RTE Radio Operations
Looks like it is something they are aware of and they are working on potential solutions to resolve the problem.

Just a note for some people with smart phones the feed while intermittent on the tune in app seems to be more consistent in the rte radio app .

I have to say that as the national brodcaster RTE internet radio service is a disgrace I have a couple of Internet Radios and a Sonos system which I use to listen to internet stations I have the Sonos now for about 3 years and I can honestly say the only Internet Station I ever have Problems with is RTE and this is ongoing over the last 3 years It is never reliable all the other stations I listen to on the net work perfect

Maybe RTE in light of the Stars pay packets printed this morning could get them to bung a few bob towards improving the service but really it is a disgrace for the service to be so bad even the small commerical stations can provide a better service

I have just checked the web based browser radio and the few RTÉ channels listed there seem to be OK.
