RTE's poor Xmas schedule

Why the 9am start after Christmas for Kenny show and no Live Line (replaced with some pathetic attempt at comedy)? Also they haven't bothered to update the PK site on RTE with recent podcast's of shows since Dec .21st, lazy shower of b*stards. BBC R4 on the other hand's normal schedule resumed yesterday morning with all shows available on their radio iplayer. Its not as if the likes of Duffy works punishingly hard all year and needs a rest at Christmas.

The review of the 70's music is streets better than a typical liveline. I also dislike the early start of PK (given that I missed an hour of it!) and TWO HOURS of Collins is cruel and unusual punishment.

you cant expect joe duffy to work over the christmas period. he needs to rest after the stressful year of answering phones and the whole 75 minutes of work he does every day. he has to be refreshed for asking stupid questions in the new year.

Very poor, techno... I work a lot on my own over the Christmas and it would be nice to have a few decent shows on to listen to .. Even this evening .. Audrey Carville, filling in for Mary Wilson ... "We have a shorter show than normal this evening"..... WHY???? it's the 28th of fkn December, everybody else is working. Every show has been moved or has stand in presenters, and those studenty "comedy" shows make me want to break the radio... Every presenter gives you the impression that they are looking at their watch...

I said this last year, but if that's the best they can do they should just shut the damned thing down for the last two weeks of December.. Maybe lease it out to a psychic reading call in show with Michael Murphy..

Can't there be ONE week without people whining about how ****e everything is on Liveline?

I think the Radio 1 schedule is alright this week.

No harm having a shortened Drivetime, there is very little hard news occurring.

I like the Irish Charts history show they have at 2pm every afternoon. The comedy at Lunchtime wasn't great but it is still a vast improvement on Liveline.

As an aside to the RTE bashing, some praise. I was travelling to Dublin airport yesterday morning between 7 and 9 and had the dial tuned to RTE1.

Risin Time was on presented by Shay Byrne and a fabulous hand he was at it. An excellent selection of easy listening music with minimum interruption. He even managed to make the interaction with the AA roadwatch presenter bearable.

Just listening to Pat Kenny rerun that was on today... round up of the TV, Paddy O'Gorman going round the graveyards (very sad but interesting), very nice Karen Carpenter singer.... Good show..

Well done Pat, this is what every presenter should be doing..

    +1

Pat really should be on from 9-12. Listened to his show yesterday all the way through without tuning out.

As Skid said, the Irish Chart documentaries are good although Oliver Callan's show was 'meh'.

Claire Byrne's show this afternoon is titled 'Reasons To Be Cheerful'...not a good sign!
