I'm looking for a 7 inch tablet which has a good battery, screen and build quality but all other specs are unimportant. The build cost of the Kindle Fire is:

Given the above costs (battery + screen = $79) is it possible to get a cheaper tablet than the Kindle Fire? Where would you say the trajectory of tablets is going in the next year? I only need the device for business purposes for entering a small bit of text but the screen has to be of a high quality and the device should have an 8 hour battery life.

The likes of this device made by datawind would probably do the job and costs $50, but it only has a 3 hour battery life.

    Thanks.

We have a few tablets in the house. Got a couple over Christmas and so far my weapon of choice is the Blackberry Playbook (€169 PC World)
Probably still a little limited by choice of apps at the moment but supposedly that's to change soon.
Otherwise it's a fantastic machine, fast, easy to use, 7in screen, 64gb and very intuitive. Was bought on Christmas Eve as a Nexus wasn't available so plan was to exchange it as soon as the Nexus was back in stock. That won't be happening now as the Playbook seems more than capable.
