Im looking to move to bjd, found a great property less than a mile from town at a very good price...maybe too good! Can anyone tell me what the town is like? Shops, pubs? Just concerned prices are so low because there is nothing decent in the area....... Thanks in advance for your replies!

    There's,

    Gym in skellys garage.
    UB,
    Centra shop,
Best Chinese in Cavan, across from centra, opens till 4am on sat!
    Doctors out kilnaleck road
Tons of pubs, not sure who's the best. I'm not a drinker.
Cavan museum, not sure ive heard of anyone going to it!

I like bjd, full of dubs, brazilians, polish and a few Cavan folk. I find it a friendly place and don't hear of much trouble.

I moved up 3 years ago and love it here. It's quiet during the week but very busy on Friday and Saturdays.

Nice estate, joins onto another estate called The Meadows. Its just outside the town, about 10mins walk. 5mins walk from both schools.

Thanks. I am thinking of moving to the town. A lot of locals recommend Virginia over Ballyjamesduff but there is some great value in some of the houses in BJD at the moment. Can you tell me if there is much difference in both towns from an Anti social behaviour perspective? Are the schools in BJD any good? I like BJD and don't need to worry about commuting etc. Once its peaceful then that is all I am looking for.

    Anything else worth mentioning?

Ballyjamesduff has a bus service but only a few a day:

An hourly service operates from Virginia (10 minutes by car from Ballyjamesduff) to Dublin. The first two buses of the day use the M3 from Kells onwards:

Expressway coach every two hours from Virginia to Dublin Airport:

Regards antisocial behaviour, theres not too much, there are the local group of teens that hang around the town "being cool". I dont be around Virginia much to be able to compare the two, but Virginia does have a couple of night clubs what can cause issues on Friday or Saturday nights. The local school, Ive not heard anything terrible about it, as I said in another post its after expanding massively the past couple of years so should have all mod cons in science labs, metal work, gym, computer rooms etc. It is a pretty quiet town, the most excitement all year was the "Back to Ballyjamesduff" festival which was last week. then theres the Frolics, but I dont know if its on this year.
