Look you cant fly in and out when you want if you want the good fares. That is the whole theory behind cheap fares.

Liverpool FC are playing Swansea at home that weekend. If thats why you're going over then €150 per person isn't too bad.

No offence to Swansea but tickets for such a fixture will be easier to source for occasional matchgoers to Anfield than one of the bigger established clubs.

Ryanair know this, and given the huge fan base Liverpool have on this side of the Irish Sea, they hike their fares to meet the demand.

You could get the ferry for about a third of the price but what you spend on board the boat/train in the time it takes to get to Liverpool on pints and food will probably cancel out the cost of the flight. (Although you might save on accommodation costs).

I'd get the flight. You might only be in the air for half an hour but at least you'll get there and back in relative comfort.

Time spent on a plane has absolutely no bearing on the value of the flight. I've often paid less to get to the far side of Europe than I did to fly from Galway to Dublin.

Prices will most likely only go up and up. You could consider:

Dublin-Manchester Ryanair on the dates for around €176 and there is lots of buses/trains to Liverpool and you could do the lot for around 200-220 i recken.

Very good alternative as the rail station in Manchester is in the airport.
