Yeah Hourihane was quite cute, I remember thinking she didn't really look Irish but sort of Russian, Yum! I used to prefer the woman who played the fake continuity announcer, Blaithin though:

Bravo to RTE2 tonight. That sketch show with Domhnall Gleeson was pretty good (patchy enough, but when it was funny it was really funny). I thoroughly enjoyed Nighthawks Rehashed, and now I'm watching the Amy Winehouse documentary. 2-3 hours of RTE2 non-stop - the first time in a long time that I've done that.

I was too young to really appreciate Nighthawks when it first aired but I must say I enjoyed this little retrospective and was glad to see it getting some proper recognition at last. Pretty unique little programme it looked like, too, with a mix of chat, sketches, music and mini-dramedy. It's not a format that's ever caught on exactly.

The footage also makes me wonder what else RTE have got rattling around in their archives that they haven't released. I'd like to see a look back at The End. Would never happen I'm sure as it's probably been wiped and the audience would be small enough. On the other hand, Hot Milk & Pepper has an ep. up on TV50 so anything's possible.

Was hoping the rapping Dev would be included. was not disappointed. recognised a few people in the background at one point. The show was ahead of its time really.

Anyone remember the 60's continuity anouncer spin off that they did?I think it was a one off episode and it was about Ireland's entry to the Eurovision. There were a few spoof songs including one where the chorus went your love is giving me a heart attack.Jon Kenny of D,unbelieveables was in it as one of the singers.Looking back on it now I think it have provided inspiration for the Song for Europe episode of Father Ted.

It did (indirectly). The drunken Sean Doherty interview helped lead to the fall of Charles Haughey. Not so much a government as a regime.
    Excellent work.
