What is a good small cheap sturdy car for learning to drive?

I am learning to drive and wonder what is the best car to learn to drive in, which is small, cheap and sturdy? Other than these which would be good
1. Polo
2. Skoda Fabia

If I was you I would go for a Toyota Yaris as they are easy and cheap to mantain,insure and run,parts can be easily can be easily got,I know that some Toyota models does have some recalls lately some with every make be it an Audi to Volswagen at some stage of their lifetime, back to what you want to know Skoda Fabia would be generally cheaper to buy than a Volswagen Polo,I think that the Skoda Fabia would be cheaper to insure than a Volswagen Polo as people are known for modifing as in fitting body kits,spraying,& aftermarkets alloys Volswagen quicker compared to Skodas.

I couldn't get insured on my own name on my mothers yaris as it was japanese. Fiat punto sporting 2 years named driving - 1400 euro third part. Not nit picking, just speaking from experience.

Micra, Yaris, Polo, Fabia, Fiesta, Ka, Ibiza and a few more along those lines.

er...if you can learn in a larger car it will stand to you...learnt in a hyundai pony then a citroen xsara and xantia. Will happily drive small buses I'd say cos I haven't been confined to tiny cars...
