Doing the right thing

Myself and a new colleague have struck up quite a friendship over the past few months, I'm late 30's and she is mid 30's and we are both single.

Over xmas we've been exchanging texts and she actually asked me out, perhaps to meet up over the weekend.

So far so good :) the thing is over the past few months we talked about future plans and goals and one of hers is to get married and have kids.

The problem is that due to a medical condition 15 years ago I cannot have kids, I've made my peace with this so that isnt the issue, however I would hate to start a relationship with someone and in effect waste her time, I'm aware of the ever-clicking biological clock. Normally I would date women who were a bit younger than her or women older than me who have children.

So I know I've leapt from first date to kids pretty quickly but I suppose is the right thing to do is to turn down the date? I dont really want to discuss my infertility with her especially not early on, but I appreciate time isnt on her side.

So kind people of boards.ie I'd appreciate your input :)

I don't think you should dismiss this lady so soon without discussing the issue with her. It's obvious you like her, and you may be mis-judging her. It's perfectly normal for someone of her age to casually say "I'd like to get married and have some kids" ... but the thing is, maybe it's YOU she'd like to marry, and if the kids didn't happen, she'd still want to be married to you!

No way, should you be choosing your partner around this situation - do not make a big mistake here.

Go out, enjoy yourself - see what happens and take it from there! :)

Hmmm don't leave it too long to tell her though - I would want to know pretty early on.
