Hi all, I'm looking for advice on these mpvs which would people recommend and if any users could offer an opinion would be good. Will need a 7 seater soon so have narrowed it down to these two have discounted opel zafira have heard a lot of negative comments about them and toyota verso is just too small, how did people find room in the boot of the vw and ford when back seats folded down it looks like the ford is more roomier of the two, thanks in advance L.

If the verso is too small, then so is the touran. S max would be pretty much in the sharan class.

I've driven both, the s-max is a nicer drive, a very good mover and better built. The Touran is a goodish car, but it's not that well screwed together and is fairly dull. The S-max is good enough to convince a keen driver that they have not surrendered and bought an MPV. Almost.

Just be aware that the early S-Max models only came in 5 seater. I think it was about a year after launch that they became 7 seater.

And if you need 7 seats plus space in the boot you would probably be better off looking at a full size 7 seater like a Galaxy or Seat Alhambra.

I'd probably go for the Ford also. Don't be so quick to dismiss the Opel though. One neighbour has a touran and another has the Zafira. Both agree the Opel is probably better in every department.

However if you will be using the 7 seats regularly you'd be better off in a galaxy

The S-Max was available as a 5 seater as well as a 7 seat from launch. Think 5 seat was only in LX trim.

Touran has recently become available in 5 seat, probably just to lower emissions.

If I end up having to have a 7 seater, it will be an S-Max.

The Touran is perfect for 3 in the back but the 3rd row are more occasional seats and the boot is quite small.
The s-max is lovely to drive but I can not remember anything about the 3rd row or boot space.
The Citroens are worth a look to.
