Broken Tooth

My brother was assaulted last night . Half of his right lateral incisor was broken off. The break is a little jagged and at an angle. He has the broken part.

In a situation like this, would a crown be the normal treatment or can the broken part be put back on somehow? The tooth is very sensitive. Does he need to see a dentist as a matter of urgency? Money is very tight as he's saving to emigrate to Australia. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I'm not a dentist so wont comment on the treatment part, but yes he really should go and see a dentist asap.

Dental care is no cheaper in Oz so he'll be paying to get it done and chances are the longer he leaves it the worse/more complex the situation may become

Thanks. It's more of a cashflow thing really than trying to save money. I didn't intend to give the impression that he was waiting so he could get it done "cheaper" in Australia. He just doesn't have the €1k or whatever it costs to get a crown. When he's in Australia he'll (hopefully) be earning and be able to pay for it - which he can't right now. That's why I was asking if a crown is his only option.
