I was hoping someone could help me, I have recently started a CE scheme, I was on One Parent Family before. I rang the social welfare and told them I was starting the CE scheme, but I am confused because when I went to collect my rent allowance today there was a payment there for OPF. Am I still entitled to any payment from the OPF, I had thought that payment was transferred? I can't ask the CE supervisor as she is on holidays. It is probably an overpayment, so will I have to pay that back out of my CE scheme after Christmas?

Thanks for your help, I am just a bit confused as this is my first time on a CE scheme

I know nowt about OPF, but does this help any.
Qualified child increases: If a person is on a CE scheme and getting One-Parent Family Payment, Deserted Wife's Benefit or Widow's, Widower's or Surviving Civil Partner's Contributory Pension, payment of 2 qualified child increases will cease for both new and existing participants with effect from 20 February 2012.

Existing participants will get the qualified child increase on their social welfare payment and will get the personal rate for a CE participant. New CE participants will get the qualified child increase with their CE payment.

AFAIK dual payments (ce and OPFP) were abolished for new applicants in last years budget. If it is an overpayment they will go and try to recover any overpayment so before you spend it check with your local Social Welfare office. You should also make sure that if you are informing them of any change in your circumstances you should put it in writing otherwise they may say that you didn't let them know that you had started a ce scheme.
