I think PCWorld in Swords were doing them for €27 recently but I'd say they've probably already sold out of them at this stage...

Actually, it was closer to €22 and they have the deal online so try buying there instead if your local branch hasn't got one.
Alternatively ask the store to do a stock check of other shops, see if they are out there somewhere.

I don't see them on the site?

The OP asked on the Talk to Currys forum, there are a few controllers left in the Liffey Valley, Carrickmines, Sligo, Waterford, Galway and Letterkenny stores (I got the last one in Airside today ;)).

A word of warning to anybody buying Wii U Pro controllers. There are a lot of fakes out there and really convincing fakes. I bought 2 in the last week but thankfully got my money back. It has made me very wary now of buying them in future. Some of them are so good you need to have the original beside it to spot the subtle differences and thankfully I already owned an original controller.

It is really hard to spot the differences but the 1 giveaway is the charging cable that comes with them. While the controller has the Wii U logo on the front and the Nintendo logo engraved on the back they still haven't faked the charging cable. There are other differences like the instructions aren't like in the real box.

I wouldn't buy any Pro controller without an original cable, that's the first giveaway. There's the weight. The original is 220g roughly, the fake is 210g. The blue light is slightly different. The logo and button paint is a subtle shade different. The rubber on the analogue sticks is slightly inferior, look at the raised runner inner circle. The plastic for the anologue sticks is different. The fake plastic sticks is the same as the plastic on the underside of the controller. And the screw for the battery compartment is silver when it should be grey.

I didn't open it up but I'm sure that if I did I would have found more differences like the battery. The white controller is even harder to tell apart from the fakes because you can't tell the plastics apart because of the colour though the rubber is noticeable worse. The screw on the fake is silver as on the original.

Just be very careful if you're in the market for one. They have come on leaps and bounds since the shoddy Wii remotes.

There much of a quality difference between the originals and the fakes?

I had a fake PS3 controller a few years ago (didn't know it was fake at the time) and it did a decent enough job of what it was supposed to do until sony stopped them syncing properly with a firmware update.

While they may have improved cosmetically, I'd say they're nowhere near as good performance wise. I've heard that some buttons while they may work generally, don't work in certain games. And I'd expect that they could wear more easily.

Who has the best price on these at the moment?

Amazon.co.uk are selling them for around €50 (after price conversion) which is almost same as Argos @ €52.99.
I checked Amazon.fr which has them for €39, but that's excluding delivery, after which it's around €49.

Anymore deals like the €22 PC World one?

Argos have an afterglow alternative for €32.

I have one of their 360 pads and it's decent. I'm assuming the Wii U version is similar.

I need the original for Nintendont emulation. Apparently only the original works as others have had issues with the 3rd party controllers.

I went to pick up one from Argos and despite saying they have 2 in stock, all of them have been recalled due to a fault in the hardware?!?

Must have been a bad batch... a tad worrying.

Went to a different Argos and they sold me one of the controllers, plus got a €5 gift voucher back so €47.99 isn't too bad.

Damn nice controller with purportedly 80 hours battery life... easily on par with my Xbox controller. Nintendont plays like a dream (as do Wii U games obviously) ;)
