So of of now there is no WiiU Virtual Console but there is one planned right ? Assuming the WiiU VC arrives soon(ish) is it now pointless buying Wii VC games ?

I am hoping a WiiU VC would support the WiiU Game Pad which would make Wii VC games a bit less useful on WiiU.

I prefer to buy new games. Only got Mario kart 64 on the wii for a bit of fun one night, and to try it more than anything.

Virtual Console launched today, the NES game Balloon Fight is the only one.
    It's 30 cent for 30 days.
It's just a trial run though.

    January: Balloon Fight
    February: F-Zero
    March: Punch-Out! Featuring Mr. Dream
    April: Kirby’s Adventure
    May Super Metroid
    June Yoshi
    July Donkey Kong

If you already own the Wii version of the VC game, you can get it from the eShop for 1 euro (NES) 1.50 (SNES), otherwise it'll be 5 and 8 respectively.

It's a bit sh!t that if you already have the game, you still have to pay to get it again, even if it is a reduced price.

I do like the fact that you can play the games on the Gamepad screen though. And the fact that the buttons are configurable.

This business of playing them on the gamepad is great, i think.

Now, if i had a game on my wii, and i wanted to get it again for the wiiu, would it be available from today? Or is it just that list for the moment?

Apparently, work needs to be done to the VC game itself to make it compatible on the Wii U, so no, they will be releasing the games as they are made compatible and not as a big bunch.

I think it's great. Just downloaded Baloon Fight and played it there on the gamepad :)

Looking forward to loads mobile (semi mobile) fun.

In fairness if you bought the game you can still play it. They're not taking what you bought away or anything. It's just another added version of it with extras, gamepad functionality etc.

Yup, a lot of money grabbing going on these days with games, on all levels

Seems all the games will be PAL 50Hz as well for Europeans meaning bordering messing up the aspect ratio and much slower gameplay.

In other words, Euro gamers should not bother with it (bar titles that never got a PAL conversion in the first place.)

    Such as?

Is more enhancing than compatability. Miiverse support, save state support, game pad support. Adding lots for your extra euro. Seems worth it to me. Better than charging you the full whack again anyway...

My wii wont start anymore (it had a little fall while I was over-hasty in making space for the new wii u). Is there any way to get you vc games from your old wii if it wont start? Or, since its the same email address tied to both machines, can I redownload them as wii u versions (paying the extra)?

I was going throught the VC of the 3DS, surprised there was no SNES or N64 content on them. Surely the system could handle it ?
