I haven't seen any calves off of T bone but IS4 has some good calves left round here, one great heifer calf i know off out of a BBx cow came a bright red white head and she is lovely.

Now whats KFY like is he not the bees nees for width/size when it comes to simm bulls for throwing breeding heifers? i dont deal with Dovea but looking to order 5 of him along with 5 kilmoney bruce, didnt see anything else of theirs that i fancied maybe Tonga the culard.. after that PG/Munster as usual

If you are getting on alright with kfy stick with him, breeding big beefy females with pucks of milk.

Btw kfy is a eurogene bull

We used a bit of Sim this past few years, and got bull calf after bull calf. KFY bred great bull calves, better than his heifers. I'm not so sure he brought that much milk to the table.
We have a Vio bull calf at the moment and he's a smasher.

I'm starting to favour a cow with a bit more muscle behind her than the Sim brings, but keeping milk. If anyone finds one maybe they can tell me:D

ya hard get a cow with both muscle and milk prob looking at a daft limo

The problem I find with the Simmental cow is the off spring usually bring a white head or broken white head. I have super cows with loads of milk and produce a great calf every year. But the exporters aren't fond of the broken whitehead though which is a pity because they have gone on to reach a tonne weight at thirty months here on grass only!!

This bit of white or a mousey brown colour putting buyers can be a pain in the a$$ . I know a fella that breeds super charlaois weanlins . His herd is probably three generations on from lim x fr cows . Every year he has the odd mousey calf or one with a bit of white around the head that usually gets a few quid less in the mart .
Does this colour really make much of a difference in the meat they eventually carry or the time it takes them to put it on ? Maybe bob or pudsey would be good enough to throw a comment about the colour disadvantage ?

its no different than a bent twisted carrot or a staight carrot we will all go for the straight one sitting side by side, but yet they taste the same, weigh the same and have the same energy.

I often think with weanlings like that, you are better to keep them for the spring and let the Irish farmer go for them. Same for weanlings that might be poor from no milk in the cow, but great breeding behind them.
