Christmas blue

So I live in Australia, with an 18 mth old daughter and a 6 week old son and the wife who is Australian. I've always enjoyed Christmas here and I still was today.

At one stage I was out on the veranda with 4 others, it was warm but rainy, and my daughter came out. I picked her up and she was standing on my shoulders as I held her up. All of a sudden she jumped and hit her head on a low beam. It was loud but she cried for less than a minute. Her mom and grandmother were there in seconds and snatched her away as if she'd been hit by a bus.

The people who were there, the grandfather, great uncle and cousin of the wife all agreed that I had done no wrong and it was just an accident. There was about 12 others indoors sitting around chatting. I went inside and went to Sadie, my daughter and made sure she was alright. She was.

A little later I walked over to my wife and her sister and her sister was saying: "He was throwing her up repeatedly and he threw her into the beam" I intervened and said, maybe a little too loudly: "What did I do Lucy?" to which she replied that she was pouring wine at the time and couldn't possibly have seen. I asked her why she was giving witness testimony to my wife, which would have been used against me if I hadn't have been there. She walked away saying she didn't want to talk about it.

I told a few people about it as I was quiet upset and didn't know who had been fed this misinformation. It was then decided I was making too big a deal about this and she started crying. I went out and said I was sorry about how things had gone but she had told assumptions to my wife as truth. Just because I throw my daughter around, she loves it and it is always safe. I take a lot of factors into account before I do it. I wanted to put it behind us and shake hands and forget about it, she refused. Twice.

I just had an argument with the missus. She says she heard the story so many times as I keep bringing it back to my original argument that I caught her sister lying about me and she's over it.

I know I'm made a big deal of this but I tried to resolve it. What's my next move?

Should this be moved to personal issues?? But then I wouldn't get the joke answers that make Christmas all the more jolly.

    Feck the sister in law.

Make sure your daughter is ok, clear the air with the missus and that's all that matters.;)

Pick the sister up and throw her into the beam.

This will resolve the situation fully and everyone will look back on this
Christmas fondly for years to come!

I'm pretty sure Australia or Australians are to blame. I think a relocation will sort ya out.

All you can do is pray that kid doesn't grow up to be a little dim because if it is then the sister will be sure to make the connection!

When emotions are involved logic often goes out the window. State you case and leave it with her. Hopefully the emotions will subdue in a while and she will come around to understand.

**** sake, do what any REAL man would do in the same situation, pass out in the corner crying and piss yourself, after a shower and change of clothes you can be the envy of the party as you talk about the fact you hadn't pissed yourself in months, everyone will have forgotten the fact you nearly killed your child and got stuck in your sister in law on Jesus day at this stage. ;)

The sister is obviously just attention seeking & bitching. Ignore her and focus on the wifey and your daughter.

Explain yourself calmly to a few people who a)give a damn, and B) you give a damn about. Don't follow her with a drink in one hand and a turkey carving knife in the other;)
