Nope! Veg is peeled, desserts are made and table is set though. Turkey is for the parentals to deal with in the morning :D

I do, it took a lot of wiggling and some olive oil as a lube, but i'm now running around the sitting room going "gobble gobble" with my head covered in giblets and me legs protruding from its hole.

    ... :pac:
It takes 4 and a half hours to cook + an hours prep time. Been a family tradition to cook the turkey late on Christmas eve for the big day.

    THAT SMEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL! :P

    On! already?
which is? you either like it dry or cold?

I like cold turkey turkey meat cold, but on stephens day, with gravy.
and then every day after till its finished.
After that I don't want to see another one until next year

Bought a live turkey this year for freshness...

    Never again.

It struggled for a half hour after going in to the oven.

I know what you mean :)
But its a rather large turkey. So its either get up mad early to prep and then cook or cook late the night before.

Its what my mam always did for years and it always tasted great :) Guess its one of those things that gets passed down :o

Spoon the escaped juices over and into the bird every 40 min or so, then much more so during last 40 min. Keeps it moist.

There's no chance in hell that I'd prepare a meal the night before. The smell would have me sleepwalking towards the aroma during the night like a cartoon character smelling a freshly baked pie.

Either that or the dog would get there first...

Free-range ham is cooked (will slice it in morning and reheat it in the oven after the free-range turkey comes out and is resting). Stuffing is made. Giblet stock is made. I've also cut up a few carrots, some onion and some leaks and will be cooking the turkey over this bed of veggies. I'll add about 50 ml of white wine to that tomorrow morning. This should add more flavour to the gravy.

I start again tomorrow morning at 7.30. 8 adults for dinner at 3 tomorrow.

I'll have a staff of two slaves at my beck and call to help me during the last hour or so.
    :D
It's at times like this that I'd love one or two extra cooking rings for all the saucepans.
