I cannot collect him, as I am in work tonight, have no chance leave work, and all who i know at this stage had some alcohol used, so they cant drive.

I know, at this time of the year, is the worse time get broke far away from home. no sure yet about insurance, as he was driving somebodys else car.

I really dont know how to help, might somebody will go to Dublin from that direction , could pick up him ?

not sure he will have money, car wont be fixed at the side of the road, as timing belt snapped , he was collecting car for service.

he is 10 km from Navan towards Dublin , and his phone seems to be went off, due flat battery. my last advice was go in to petrolstation, ask staff charge phone.

he walked away from car about 15 km.

Also I advised, if he in Navan, find place stay over night, i am finishing work at half six morning, will come over collect, i did top up his phone, but battery went down .. dohhh.

A lot of insurance companies do free breakdown recovery nowadays. It might be worth your friend checking out what his policy provides. Not sure about a distance of 60km...

Part of my clutch broke a few months ago. I rang my mechanic to come and get my car. He advised me to ring my insurance company. They came within 2 hours and transported it a few km to the gargage free of charge.

Will not get fixed but they might bring him and the car home if he signs up for membership.

I doubt they would bring car over 60 km, even if they bring that car to nearest garage  which wont work at least for two days, he would have nowhere to stay till morning.

any advices where to stay over night in Navan?

My friend still manage sent text message from dying phone.

I doubt , as he is mechanic over 20 years, and he no need help from AA any kind. He hate sign any contract, and wont do this, so i think he will wait for me till morning, if will not find any help.

I think he is not goin freeze , as he use to change timing belt on vw transporter at -15 :pac:

He left car, so he is only walking. just need get to blanchardstown (at the beginning N3) , my home, he could stay there over night.
we would collect car next day.

It seems his best option is to try to hitch a lift...

yea, he is trying , but seems to be there is no many people out there, who would willing collect him in well worn mechanics cloths, in God know what kind hi-viz. he is trying stop cars for last two hours, and no avail.

The best thing he can do is just keep walking in the direction that he is going, towards Dublin and try to hitch a ride intermittently. Eventually someone will stop to give him a lift then.

He should have stayed with the car, hitching in the middle of nowhere gives the escaped prisoner impression.

Does he need a lift to blanch? I'll collect him from the Garda station in a few mins and bring him to blanch?
