Hey, do clamping services work on Christmas?
Or could you pretty much park anywhere you want for few hours?

Yes I can well imagine that they like nothing better after the christmas dinner than to go out in their van and fit some clamps. Scumbags.

Bet you were the kind of kid who thought your teachers took pleasure in disciplining you.

@arlieteiss - i'd say the chances are lower, but I wouldn't go counting on it.

You could park on the butt enda's spot outside government buildings and no one would give a rats arse.
The trampers will be at home ironing their money.

Yea they're out every year. They would clamp Santa if they could!

They would never miss the chance to inflict misery.

Do what I do, park in a clamping zone, remove the clamps and charge them 30 euro for the clamps back. They don't seem to clamp my car half as much anymore.

They would never miss the chance to inflict misery.

They don't always inflict misery though.

Try driving around a shopping centre with your disabled passenger and you can't find a space because of all the ignorant people parking in disabled bays without a permit.

    I like clampers:eek:

If people obeyed the rules there would be no need for clampers.

Always a bit suspicious of people who express such extreme dislike for clampers. What other rules are they breaking that we don't know about...

I have learned a lesson from previous time, also I learned that there are some literally asshole residents who write a handwritten sign not to park, don't put up cones or anything and then call clampers onto you 15 mins after you leave :(

If they were getting €80 (or whatver it is now) for each "disciplining", I bet they would have taken pleasure in it.

So you ignore the sign? Was this someones reserved parking space?

Who knows? They could be also burning smoky coal. Personally I don't care.

Amazingly there seems to be an awful lot of disabled visitors to the mill centre in clondalkin. The missus lives across the road from it so would be in it most days getting bits. More often than not all the disabled bays are full. Genrally 1/3rd to 1/2 seem to be commercial vehicles ............

But do they have permits to be there?

I was in the underground in Blanchardstown and there were two bays. I parked in one and I came back to my car to find the other taken by a new car, no permit and as he did not want to park so close to the wall on his/her side, they parked over the white wheelchair loading area and close enough that I could not open my door properly never mind get a disabled passenger into the car:mad::mad:

Bad enough that he took a disabled space but to leave me in a situation where I could not get the passenger into the car safely was beyond a joke. Needless to say I had a chat to the clampers that I met on the way out.

    .

There is a minority group in this country that drive a high proportion of Hi-Aces. The disabled are not that group.

I've seen the security move on some people from the huge yellow box between the disabled bays and the doors a year or two back. Now they just seem to have given up and let people park where they want, permit or not.

I've no issue with clampers and would be in favour of private clamping being made properly legal, with rules and regulations. I've never been clamped or given anyone reason to clamp me, nor do I plan too.....

Sorry yes I get you, too many late nights and the brain is not working. :D The problem with these guys is they are not the sort to take kindly to being asked to move on. In my local shopping centre, in fairness to the clamper he is pretty quick to clamp the ignorant offenders not part of the minority group you are talking about and there are plenty of them!

Exactly. Campers are greedy scum who will take their fee from anyone they can, legal or not. They are not the saviour of the motorist as some would have us believe.
I have never been clamped and personally think people who park in disabled bays etc are very ignorant and should be fined but it's the way the campers operate - clamping people who couldn't pay due to faulty machines or clamping where signage isn't clear and then making people jump through hoops via a fake appeals process.
Anan1, admit it, you must own or work for a clamping outfit.

Funnily enough, here in London my local council has made it clear that there will be no enforcement on Christmas Day (not double yellows, not dropped footpaths, not corners). On 26th and NY day, some enforcement but only double yellows, dropped pavements and one of the designated parking areas. Otherwise, free rein for all.

Just because the chap doesn't share the same views as many here re clampers wouldn't mean that he works for or owns a clamping outfit, to be fair.

I used to work with a chap years ago, he later worked as a clamper/tow away operator, nice man, far from a scumbag he was.

I'm sure he was far too reasonable to be successful in that job so.

Ever dealt with a chap from the NCPS?

Not altogether sure what you mean by that but he was a very nice chap, when I worked with him he was the sort you could rely on and trust. Branding someone a scumbag due to their job is up there with the most retarded drivel I've seen on boards.ie.

No, as I'm not in the habit of parking like a gormless gnome :)

I mean if he was a nice chap, and I don't doubt it, he would not work too long in a job where being sneaky and underhand and unwilling to listen to reason are the primary qualifications required.
I know I couldn't work for ncps for example as reasonable clear cut clampings don't cut it for these operators. You have to be topping up your quota with numerous other clampings, clamping of a dodgy nature to make the grade.

    I did say ...for example.
I wondered if a nice guy could stay in a job like that, you don't appear to know how long he stayed there so just leave it at that. No point picking an argument with me or I will have you clamped.

    Nice insult there.

I'm not into that habit either, I was just unlucky really. But the guys were the greatest of all scumbags in trying to deal with them. Since then I have come across many other NCPS clampers, all of whom were just unbelievable ignorant and rude.

Yeah the lads all head coppers during the week and I head out with them..

A classmate and a good friend of mine have also been clamped since I was clamped, for ridiculously minor offences. I was there when they paid the money and the guys came, different folks each time, all the same kind of scumbag attitude. :)

It's hand written sign, so I don't care, it was empty space, only one around, other reserved spaces residents weren't lazy asses to place cones on their space. Why should I follow a hand drawn sign?
