I have xbmc installed under 2 platforms to test, windows 7 & ubuntu. Both platforms play HD channels from DM800 on VLC perfect but when playing through xbmc it deteriorates to the point its unwatchable.

Any tips or things I need to look out for. Laptop has an i3 with HD3000 graphics embedded just to test.

I would have though I would need a graphics card but if VLC is able to play it then why not xbmc?

    Same goes for recordings.

Do you mean it starts out good and deteriorates or is it always bad through XBMC?

What settings do you have configured for Video Settings and System Settings? There shouldn't be any reason why you can't stream HD. I'd say its a simple config issue or a code problem.

I will do a test with a 1080p video stream rather than the 1080i .TS satellite stream and see what happens. I can safely say from what I remember 1080p from my NAS is not an issue

Seems to be a hardware issue. When I try without hardware decoding it works ok but not perfect. The graphics chip is very poor so I have ordered a broadcom crystal HD. I will update once I have it installed
