All downloaded microsoft word documents are blocked

Every time I download a microsoft word document and click open I get a pop-up saying "word experienced an error trying to open this file, try these suggestions... etc etc". So then I've to go into my downloads folder, right click, properties and "unblock" the file. This is really annoying as sometimes I have a few files…

Every time I download a microsoft word document and click open I get a pop-up saying "word experienced an error trying to open this file, try these suggestions... etc etc". So then I've to go into my downloads folder, right click, properties and "unblock" the file. This is really annoying as sometimes I have a few files downloaded for college work and I've to search through my downloads to unblock each individual one. This wasn't happening a few months ago so why do I have to unblock each file now, and how can I stop this from happening?
