what is the strongest transit van you can get? I was always under the impression it was 2.4 litre but my friend says he drives a 2007 one for work that is a 3 litre. was there a three litre version. he claims its a bullet for pulling things such as mini diggers etc.

I've seen a old 3l Transit Wilker ambulance one. Does about 21mpg on the motorway. Still not that fast

Better than the old diesel ones which you ran out of steam after 50mph...

I remember years ago, when i used to work in a tyre fitters in London. The car dealers next door bought an old transit that had a Granada 2.9 Cosworth engine transplanted into it.
Feckin thing went like the clappers

The Ford Transit Jumbo comes with a 3.2 litre TDCi engine and around 200bhp.

Then you had the Transit Supervan:

Used to be a Sherpa with the V8 from the Rover SD1 at the same time.

    My 1980 Transit had a 2.0 V4.

I've a 115hp t350, 2.4, think there might be a 125T350, never heard of a 3 litre diesel. Compared to the 85hp 2.4s, the 115 is a good bit rapider, but it's no racecar. Considering how much fuel the 2.4s burn, I can't see there being a queue forming for a 3 liter.

wasnt many 3.0 transits in o7 id say at best it 135 and 6 speed, the 3.2 was only in the newer jumbos ,
