Anyone up for a gentle 50-70k Stephen's Day spin to burn off the food/drink of Xmas day? I reckon on heading north from Baldoyle around 8 am. T'will be a fairly easy pace with occasional cafe puke stops and other unscheduled halts to cope with various self-inflicted gastrointestinal disorders...

Well, sure by the time I make it to some sensible meeting point it'll be later.

Sure might start out later indeed, we can negotiate...

Interested in this also. But I have to work a couple of hours so closer to eleven for me before I get to meeting point. Assume that would be swords somewhere

Should be well carbed for this one

Eleven is a bit late for me. I wanna be home by 1. Pick us up en-route?

Colmcilles GAA is a good central meet uppoint

I will follow the majority. Plot the route and if I cannot make the official start then I will try to latch on somewhere else

What about more or less the same route as the last one?

Am hoping to head out for a relatively gentle 100km from Ashbourne in the morning, give or take a few kms, if anyone that posted here is still game for a spin?

That'a about 5 interested so far.
Would Ratoath 08:45, Ashbourne 09:00, Swords St Colmcilles GAA 09:30 suit?
I have the map of the previous NCD 75km spin on my garmin or another similar one using better roads.

I'll do my best to be out on the bike for 9am, where's handiest to meet you in Ashbourne?

Are ye planning a coffee stop? If so I may just keep pedalling and depart from the security of the group...

The roundabout south of Ashbourne on the R125.
I would prefer to keep going too. The cafes/shops may not be open tomorrow so everyone bring enough food and drink to get home.
I think there are only 3 now and whoever else turns up in Swords.

Sounds good, I should be there for 9!

That was grand. Met victorcarrera and colm_gti at swords, headed north and picked up midonogh and Beasty shortly after. Bcmf sure knows how to pick every tiny, twisty back road around. North to Nevit, across to Man O War, down into Skerries, up past Beasty's lair back over to Man O War where I left to head for home (t'was a handy spin I had in mind). Got caught by the rain for the last 15 min but sure I was cosy and warm by then so it was no bother. 72k in about 3 hours...

Good spin, thanks lads! Got caught in pretty heavy rain for the last 20km or so, best decision ever to cut the spin short!

Don't really cycle or work out to pull women, but whatever you need to help you then so be it...

Potholes - he forgot to mention the potholes (and the mud)

Anyway having commenced in the Skerries Branch of Swords CC with midonogh around 8.30 (lights still required) we met up with the Boards spin just north of Swords then headed back towards Skerries

Over 3 hours and 77km or so for me - time-wise my longest spin of the year. Just getting over a bit of a head-cold so the temptation of heading back into the lair was too much and I left the 3 remaining guys to continue on.

Well I had originally entitled the original thread as l'enfer du North County. North County has its own special pave which somehow dissapears once in the vicinty of Chateau Beasty.
