Put in a call earlier to RAC for a breakdown in Ireland . The dits on the phone put in an Irish address with England at the end .
When I rang up guy operator said job cancelled cause no one answered . No wonder they were ringing with 0044 beforehand and heading to a breakdown in Torquay instead of cork ! So new job requested . Let's see how long it takes now .,
At least it's not Xmas eve this is happening I suppose ..

While I'm waiting has any one else ever had hassles with breakdown assistance ?

I've had good service over the years apart from now on diff cars . What are ye're opinions

I'm very surprised at this. I used RAC when in the UK and have always found them excellent. But I wasn't aware they are now here...

I'm going to get in touch with them now, and find out what the rates are. I've got breakdown cover with my insurance, but not sure about the responsiveness. I've seen someone break down at the bottom of out estate and they waited 3 hours for the truck to arrive. As I drive alone a lot of the time, as a female driver, that would be unacceptable to me.

Second call out request . I got a call from mechanic within half an hour and within the hour problem fixed - new battery Kevin from RAC very efficient .

Moral of story make sure call centre is told repeatedly that u are in Ireland !!!

I have no idea what they are like today, but when I had RAC cover in Ireland a few years ago, they didn't have dedicated vehicles, so they just called whatever mechanic nearby picked up the phone.

If you have AVIVA cover in Cork, they still use RAC, and yes, you still get Kevin if you're lucky. Had persistent electrical issues with my car, and he was tremendous help - also very good at giving advise on how to get things resolved long term.

only issue I have now is I have a battery i bought from RAC still under warranty that's failing - can't find a direct number, and if I have to ring through AVIVA, it'll wreck the head of the AVIVA phone advisor in Manchester if I tell them I want to talk to RAC Ireland about a battery... :)
