guy is selling an uk reg accord 2.2 cdti, 2004, 134,000, but the chain is rattling alot but starting ok. I'm interested in it but afraid it could be serious enough as these engines give trouble but not sure.
Is it just a matter of replacing the chain and all will be ok

    Ta

The timing chain is common to go in the Accord's. I'd be prepared to have extra cash to set aside for timing chain kit replacement immediately as if it's left it could snap and then you'll face problems...

The chain job ain't cheap I believe but at least you would know where you are with it then and not be worried about chain problems around the corner.

Parts: €300-350 if only the camshaft one needs to be replaced,€700 if the oil pump chain is gone as well.Could be more if the chain has started eating into the rocker cover.

Labour: About 7-8 Hours for someone who did it before

They most likely used the wrong grade of oil and/or skipped a few services. There are pile of diesel Accords out there,so I would walk away from this one.

So you could be talking near €1500
Someone mentioned that injectors would need to be replaced too but i do not see why...
These cars have dropped in price alot so may pass on it

There is a good 50% chance that one or two injector won't seal properly after removing them.
Do your really need a diesel? If you don't do a huge mileage you would be better off with a petrol Accord:those things are never give trouble.

He did mention about replacing all injectors
I would need a diesel as do fairly big miles, Just like the accord cdti to drive but it could cost me the price of a straight one but at least them jobs would be done.. worst case scenario cost would be 2000 at least yeah?
