I see the Euromillion lottery was won by 1 person, with that person getting just over 100 million euro.Nice little present for Christmas.:D

No Irish person has ever won it,apart from that lady from Limerick, who won something like 130 million euro.
Yet there has been loads of German,French and UK winners of it.

It would be nice if we could get a winner here in this country.

Wonder will another Irish person win the Euromillions soon???

You say that as if she doesn't count?

They are much bigger countries. It's no mystery.

Nothing to say an Irish person on holidays in Spain or France couldn't have bought a winning ticket. If it was me, I wouldn't bother coming back.

I didnt know that there was a 2nd Irish winner...(15 million euro)..congratts to him or her or them.

Do you have to go public if you win the Euromillions??

Or can you stay unknown for obvious privicy and security reasons

Of course you don't have to go public. Dolores was outed by the mate who went to check the tickets racing back into the pub shouting 'you won, you won the euromillions'. Or something.

    I'da killed her anyway.

I thought someone in the social with access to a database blew the whistle.

No, I don't think so. Her identity was in the papers nearly the next day. I remember because I'm so bitter about it. If it was a Friday night the social snoopers wouldn't have been in work until the Monday and the whole country knew by then.

Nah, Delores got the publicity due to thinking she had scored on the Irish Lotto and being in a crowded pub. There was no easy way of keeping a lid on €115,000,000 anyway. You're not going to buy a new kitchen and explain it away by using the elderly relative excuse at that level.

Yep, this is what I was thinking about
This is not the first time department staff have been investigated for alleged breaches of guidelines.

In 2006, officials were reprimanded after they were found to have accessed the social welfare history of EuroMillions lottery winner Dolores McNamara.

At the time, the 72 officials in question got away with a slap on the wrist after it emerged that there were 106 cases where staff logged onto Ms McNamara's records in the days after her record €115m jackpot win.

Are you sure about all those German winners? Have you got a link, because Germany doesn't even participate in the Euromillions.

I'd like to hear of someone winning big and doing some good with it. Whenever I think about winning something that big I get very selfless.

I think what the OP means by "apart from Dolores" is that she was one of the first and it was a long time ago so we're due a winner in Ireland at this stage.
