My thoughts are with his family. Regardless of Political Affiliations or voting history in the Dáil, The country has lost a dedicated Public Servent, His Wife has lost her Husband and His children have Lost their Father. This isnt the time to take petty shots

On a personal level I did not know Shane, but he did do something huge to help my family years ago. This deed was part of his job as a local TD but we appreciated it at the time and always have.

From all accounts a really nice person and my thoughts are with his family. RIP

The McEntees are an incredible family who have contributed vastly to the fabric of society in Meath and the nation as a whole. Shane was an inspirational man who in his brief policitical career worked tirelessly for for us all as evidenced by his work for victims of pyrite homes. A true Gael he will be sorely missed, may he rest in peace and I hope his family find solace in the earnest thanks of a grateful community.

Terrible news. Deepest sympathies to his family and personal and political friends,

Congrats to the mods here on the dignified management of this thread. A thread on politics.ie seems to be completely out of control

Politics in this country stinks. FF were on his back a while ago, now 'all sides of the house respected him' according to M Martin.

A lot of these radio shows like Dave Harvey on 4fm have to cop themselves on.

Dreadfully sad story and feel for him and his family.

    R.I.P.

    Respect to the moderator,

I believe there is an epedemic within us and we are to afraid to face it head on.... its called suicide. How do we deal with it, its now nearly 600 people a year. " can you imagine 3 plane crashes in Ireland a year?". There is an underlying issue within our society and we need to deal with it quickly.... not a fan of Fine Geal but the man serve his country with honour and i respect him for that.. RIP mr mc entee and condolences to his loving family.....

Agreed with you. Recessions and hardships are not only ones that pushed unfortunte persons to commit suicide, It is Bully from internet, Media, etc that pushed persons like Donegal sisters and Shane to suicide. I hope people realise how serious it is to bully people by internet and Media. Moderators here done a great job here to control the forum into minimum behaviour to avoid the potential harrassment like what Donegal Sisters and Shane had recieved.

And I've reported a video on YouTube that apparently shows the late shane mcentee sleeping. A total invasion of privacy. I'm wondering should they review videos before they are uploaded but this would be a difficult job.

I was very sorry to hear of Shane McEntees death, sincere condolences to his family and friends etc. A terrible time for them all dealing with this sudden loss.

As a general opinion, I would suggest its important for adults not to stress out youths and others with the pressures they are experiencing due to the financial situation we are in as a country. A financial situation we should not find ourselves in if the previous leaders and others had been awake at the wheel.

I suspect there are enough stressful items in the lives of youths and others without hearing their parents and other adults continually talking doom and gloom .....this situation of financial gloom has been going on for years....

We as adults must be careful when children and youths are within hearing range.

Of course any adults with problems should share them if possible with other trusted adults.....or family members......or in severe cases with professionals.

The over arching financial doom and gloom in my opinion is a dark back drop causing severe additional stress and for far too many its been a cause of tipping them over....

The non actions of others when they were at the wheel is coming back to hurt our communities in more ways then we could have imagined....

I could be more blunt but in respect to Shane McEntee and others I will leave it at that. ....
