I changed the car battery last september in the 03 toyota corolla. It's a 'global' brand. Anyway, the car barely started last week. i took it to another guy who took out the bettery and stuck in a new one. He's a good guy and said he'd 'charge up' the one I had. i returned a few days after. he said that my battery wasn't 'holding the charge'. he reckoned I should go back with the first battery to the original guy as all batterys have a 2 year waranty? its news to me. is that the case?
I'm not the best as 'shouting the odds' or anything but i'd just like to know where I stand before I'd call up to the first guy.

I just go back to where you bought the battery and ask them for advice, do you still have the invoice/receipt?

Youll need the receipt more than likely otherwise they wont entertain you. Generally batteries have a min 2 year life some have alot more, brand and price dependent.

Batteries are usually stamped at time of sale, guarantee is normally on a sliding scale.

Any bets they will put it down to the frost we had recently.

    Happened to me before.

Only offered me a 50% discount because it was a few days before the warranty was up and said by the time the manufacturer received it it would be too late.

    Probably shouldn't have accepted that.

Live and learn I suppose :p

After 14 or 15 months, I'd certainly be looking for a free replacement.

Now do you mean September '12 or September '11?

In general batteries have a minimum 2 year warranty and most factors have no problem honouring it.

    I sell batteries.

    I sell good batteries.

They go with a 24 month warranty.

I get on average 2 duds per 500 sold. I use an electronic tester, never lies.

If its a dud, instant replacement and an apology. No issues re warranty.

I brought a battery back to Halfords 2 months towards the end of the 3 year warranty.

The car had been sitting up for 16 months.

I had kept my receipt and they gave me a brand new battery.
